Psychologist Services Fees

Can We Help?

At HF&A Psychology, we want to help you in any way we can. For additional information about current fees and rebates you may be eligible for, please contact our office.

OUR FEES

For information on our fee structure, please refer to the information below. All payments are to be made on the day of the consultation and can be paid by Cash, EFTPOS and Credit Card.

CLINICAL ASSESSMENTS & THERAPY SERVICES

Recommended fees for psychological services in Australia are set and reviewed regularly by the Australian Psychological Society. At HFA, our fee structure broadly reflects these recommended fees with some reductions to these rates offered where possible.

Each therapy session is 50 – 60 minutes in duration. The cost of your therapy session may be subsidised under Medicare, if you have a Mental Health Care Plan, or through your private health insurer (depending on your level of coverage). Your General Practitioner will assess your eligibility to receive a Mental Health Care Plan. If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, you will need to bring it to your first session. You will need to pay the full amount of the therapy session, however Medicare will reimburse you a percentage of the session cost. More details regarding Mental Health Treatment Plan processes and eligibility can be found through the Department of Health http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/content/mental-ba-fact-pat.

MEDICO-LEGAL & FORENSIC SERVICES

Fees of forensic and medico-legal assessments and reports are determined by the type of assessment required and the specific instructions provided by your legal representative or the referring agency. Fees are explained prior to the commencement of the psychological assessment service, and payment options are provided. The cost of forensic and medico-legal assessments and reports reflects the number of interviews required, gathering collateral information, completing and interpreting psychological testing, reviewing relevant documentation, and the time required to prepare a written psychological report.

Medico-legal and forensic assessments and reports are not eligible for subsidy through Medicare or private health insurance.

SUPERVISION & CONSULTANCY

Clinical Supervision is available to Clinical Psychology Registrars, Students and Colleagues on an hourly rate basis. We also provide a range of consultancy and training services on an hourly rate or package basis – please contact us to discuss your needs.

REBATES

There are many different rebate schemes that may be available to you depending on your situation. These are outlined below for your information.

SELF REFERRAL

Private payment – rebates may be available through your Private Health Insurance.

You may opt to book an appointment without a Medicare based referral from your GP or medical specialist. In this case, Private Health Funds (depending on fund and coverage) may provide you with a rebate for Psychological services. Please check with your insurance provider to obtain information regarding your level of cover. For your convenience we offer an electronic HiCaps facility at time of payment for easy claiming.

REFERRAL VIA GP UNDER A MEDICARE FUNDED SCHEME

All clinicians are registered with Medicare Australia and can accept referrals from General Practitioners, Psychiatrists and other medical specialists for a series of sessions funded through the Better Access to Mental Health Initiative. The majority of patients referred under Medicare do so through their GP. There will be a gap payment required between the amount Medicare rebates to you and the full session fee.

For your convenience we offer an electronic Medicare Easyclaim facility at time of payment for easy claiming. More information is available on the Better Access to Mental Health website.

WORKERS COMPENSATION & MOTOR ACCIDENT CLAIMS

HF&A Psychology Group provides independent evaluations for individuals injured at work or in a motor-vehicle accident. We also provide treatment for injuries that are complex and/or require specialised clinical intervention. If you have a workers compensation or motor accident insurance claim, please consult with your worker compensation case manager or the Insurance Commission of WA, as they may pay us directly for psychological services as part of your claim.

CANCELLATIONS

If you need to cancel or change an appointment, we request that clients provide 24 hours’ notice or more to enable us to offer your appointment to others who may be on a waitlist. If you cancel an appointment with less than < 24 hours’ notice, or fail to attend without notice, you may be charged 100% of the session fee.
